The newly built multi-million naira professorial complex at the Federal University Dutsinma (FUDMA) has been named after the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Interior, Hon. Abdullahi Aliyu Ahmed.

The state-of-the-art complex, situated at the Permanent Site of the University, was unveiled by the member representing Musawa/Matazu Federal Constituency during the 9th convocation ceremony of the institution held on Saturday.

The naming of the complex, according to a statement by Ahmed’s Special Assistant on Media, Sardauna Francis, was approved by the Governing Council of the FUDMA during its recent meeting.

This gesture is in recognition of the first Dujiman Katsina’s unwavering commitment and contributions to the development of the federal University and the education sector as a whole.

While inaugurating the professorial complex, the legislator reaffirmed his readiness to support the state and federal government commitments to reposition the nation’s education sector for sustainable development to thrive in the country.

He underscored the pivotal role education plays in the development of any nation and the efforts of the present state and federal governments to improve the sector for quality education for Nigerians.

He, however, commended the management of the federal University for the honour and promised to reciprocate the gesture by contributing significantly to the growth and development of the university and the nation at large.

He said: “No nation can make progress without investing in education, a nation that toys with education toys with the destiny of its citizens. I believe that every Nigerian, irrespective of status, should have access to quality education.

“Therefore, the naming of this edifice after me will further inspire me to contribute significantly to the growth and development of the education sector in Katsina and Nigeria in particular.”

Earlier, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Armaya’u Hamisu Bichi, said the professorial complex was named after the lawmaker because of his contributions to the development of education and youth empowerment in the state.
