Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State thanked the state citizens for their support and understanding during delicate moments at the recent nationwide protests.

Fintiri made this known as he said other states are counting their losses in terms of human lives and colossal amounts worth of property but Adamawa is maintaining calm.

In a statement by Gov Ahmadu Fintiri signed by the Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wunosikau said, “We, in Adamawa, we are celebrating and being celebrated for peace, tranquillity and harmony.”

According to the statement, while thanking the citizens, Governor Fintiri urged them to be calm and not to join issues that, “Currently, we are yet again faced with plans by the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) to embark on another round of protests.”

“We have given a strong bond between government and our youth, especially our students, we believe that the protests would be unnecessary in Adamawa state. As a government, we have been providing free education, free school feeding, paying WAEC/NECO Examination fees, paying scholarships, donating palliative items to schools and buses to institutions to ease transportation challenges.

“We have invested heavily in other sectors such as security, health, agriculture, sports, roads/bridges, water supply and so on, for the benefit of our youth and their parents. We are determined to ensure that no one is left behind and nothing is left untouched,” he said.

“We urge you all, especially our youth, not to give room for miscreants and those that do not mean well for our state to unnecessarily create strife and confusion,” he appealed.

He maintained, “We call on our citizens to go about their lawful activities and our students to remain in school and pursue their academic responsibilities.”

The Governor noted tOur that ours are our future. We shall continue to invest and trust in you. We trust you.”
