From Umar Danladi Ado, Sokoto

Comrade Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State remains committed to enhancing the state’s socio-economic fortunes through impactful initiatives.

Recently, he donated 10 Hilux vehicles to the Federal Ministry of Works for the 1,068km Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway project.

This gesture aims to ensure round-the-clock surveillance and timely execution of the 250km Kebbi State portion of the project.

The project, necessitated by the menace of armed banditry in some northern states, will feature several components, including dam construction for irrigation farming, solar-powered streetlights, CCTV cameras, and recreational centers along the corridors.

Governor Idris believes the project will boost interstate and international social and profitable businesses, improving the well-being of Kebbi State residents.

In another initiative, Governor Idris approved a N10 billion loan for 1,300 intending pilgrims to pay for Hajj seats, allowing them to dispose of their farm produce at profitable prices.

This move will enable the pilgrims to repay the loan to the state government after selling their goods.

The governor’s commitment to social welfare is also evident in his empowerment of 1,000 persons with disabilities, each receiving N100,000 to start or expand small-scale businesses.

This gesture, which marks the second year of its kind, demonstrates Governor Idris’s focus on infrastructure development, social welfare, and economic growth, aligning with his vision for Kebbi State’s prosperity.
