Kano State Governor, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, has departed Madinah for Makkah to perform the lesser Hajj (Umrah), shortly after participating in the burial of elder statesman and business mogul, Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata.

According to a statement issued by the Director General, Media and Publicity, Government House, Kano, Mr. Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the governor is leading a delegation of top government functionaries and members of the State Executive Council on the spiritual journey.

Late Alhaji Dantata was laid to rest at the historic Al-Baqi Cemetery in Madinah after funeral prayers held at the Prophet’s Mosque. He died in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, and was flown to the holy city for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.

Describing the deceased as a rare gem, the statement noted that Alhaji Dantata was known for his immense contributions to commerce, philanthropy, and national development, especially in Kano and Northern Nigeria.

Governor Yusuf’s visit comes at a time of deep mourning across the state, as citizens continue to reflect on the life and legacies of the late patriarch, whom many described as a symbol of humility, generosity, and wisdom.
