The member representing Madobi Constituency in the Kano State House of Assembly, Hon. Suleiman Mukhtar Ishaq, has described Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf as an exceptional governor whose achievements, particularly in humanitarian and education-related programmes, are difficult to compare with those of other governors in Nigeria.
Ishaq made the remarks while representing Governor Yusuf at the closing ceremony of the Joint Musabaqah of Qur’anic Recitation held at Khairun Islamic University, Kano.
The lawmaker, who also chairs the House Committee on Education, said the annual Qur’anic recitation competition was organised to encourage children and young people to learn and recite the Qur’an in different Qira’ah (recitation styles).
He explained that the competition was initiated by students of the Sheikh Ali Huzaifa Foundation, led by the Chief Imam of Madina Mosque, and has continued to be organised annually in Kano.
According to him, this year’s Musabaqah received strong support from both the foundation and the Kano State Government through the Kano State Qur’anic and Islamiyyah Schools Management Board (KSOISMB).
Ishaq commended Governor Yusuf for appointing Dr. Ismail Ali Yunus, a PhD holder in Qur’anic Sciences, to lead the affairs of the board.
He said the appointment demonstrated the governor’s commitment to strengthening Qur’anic and Islamic education in the state.
“Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has distinguished himself through his commitment to humanitarian affairs and the development of various sectors of the state,” Ishaq said.
The lawmaker also highlighted the establishment of the Gaya State Polytechnic as one of the administration’s major achievements in the education sector.
He said the governor’s interventions across different sectors had contributed significantly to transforming Kano State and improving the lives of its residents.
Ishaq reaffirmed his support for programmes aimed at promoting Qur’anic education, describing them as important initiatives for preserving Islamic values and raising responsible future generations.
