Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, on Saturday paid a condolence visit to Bebeji Local Government Area to sympathise with the family of veteran politician and community leader, Alhaji Danlami Kofa, who died after a brief illness.
The governor was represented by his deputy, Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo, who led a high-powered government delegation to the family’s residence in Bebeji.
The condolence visit was disclosed in a statement issued on Saturday by the Public Relations Officer, Deputy Governor’s Office, Lurwanu Idris Malikawa Garu.
The delegation was received by the member representing Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency, Abdulmumini Jibrin Kofa, alongside family members, community leaders and party supporters.
Speaking during the visit, Garo described the late Danlami Kofa as a committed leader whose contributions to the political development of Kano State would be remembered for years.
“He was a committed leader whose contributions to the political development of Kano State will remain memorable. His death is a great loss not only to Bebeji Local Government but also to Kano State and the nation at large,” he said.
The deputy governor prayed to Allah to forgive the deceased’s shortcomings, grant him Aljannatul Firdaus and comfort his family.
Danlami Kofa died on Thursday after a brief illness and was buried in accordance with Islamic rites in his hometown of Kofa, Bebeji Local Government Area. He is survived by three wives, 20 children and many grandchildren.
Garo also visited the family of Governor Yusuf’s Senior Special Assistant on Marshal, Babangida Sa’id, to condole with them over the death of his mother, Hajiya Inna Sa’id, who died last Sunday.
He prayed to Allah to forgive the deceased’s shortcomings, shower His mercy on her soul and grant her Aljannatul Firdaus.
In another engagement, Garo attended the wedding Fatiha of Sani Aminu Tsanyawa and Aisha Aliyu at Imam Malik Mosque, Gaida, where he represented the groom during the solemnisation.
Sani is the son of the Federal Commissioner of the National Population Commission and former Kano State Commissioner for Health, Dr Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa.
A dowry of N150,000 was paid in line with Islamic tradition, while Garo congratulated both families and prayed for Allah’s guidance, protection and abundant blessings upon the couple.
The deputy governor also visited Alhaji Yushau Shuaibu, father of the former Director-General of the Kano State Agency for the Control of AIDS, Dr Sabitu Yushau Shanono, who is receiving treatment at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital.
“We pray to Almighty Allah to grant him quick recovery and restore him to good health,” Garo said.
