Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has relaxed the curfew earlier imposed on Lamurde Local Government Area following improvements in the security situation.
The governor announced that the revised curfew takes immediate effect and will now run daily from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. until further notice.
According to him, the decision followed a review of the security situation in the area, which had experienced a prolonged crisis.
He commended residents for their cooperation with security agencies, noting that their support contributed significantly to the restoration of peace.
“This improvement reflects the value of the decisive measures taken by the government to halt the violence and restore normalcy,” Fintiri said.
While relaxing the curfew, the governor issued a stern warning against any actions that could threaten the fragile peace, stressing that his administration would not tolerate any further breakdown of law and order.
He urged residents to remain calm, law-abiding, and committed to peaceful coexistence.
Fintiri reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring lasting peace and safeguarding lives and property across the state.
He added that security agencies had been directed to maintain a strong presence in Lamurde to enforce law and order.
The governor also called on community leaders, traditional rulers, youth and women groups, as well as other stakeholders, to promote dialogue, uphold the rule of law, and work collectively to sustain peace in Lamurde and across Adamawa State.
He noted that Adamawa has long been known for its culture of peace, tolerance, and unity, urging residents to preserve and strengthen those values.
