The Forum of Media Aides to Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, has visited Kawel Community in Mushere District of Bokkos Local Government Area to sympathise with families affected by the recent deadly attack, reaffirming the state government’s commitment to restoring peace and strengthening security across Plateau.
The delegation, led by the Director of Press and Public Affairs to the Governor, Dr. Gyang Bere, alongside the State Coordinator of the Forum, Comrade Dogo Nanzing, conveyed Governor Mutfwang’s heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and the entire community.
Speaking during the visit, Dr. Bere described the attack as senseless and condemned the killing of innocent citizens.
He said Governor Mutfwang remains deeply saddened by the tragedy and is committed to ending violent attacks through enhanced security collaboration and coordinated engagement with relevant security agencies.
He stressed the importance of collective efforts involving citizens, security agencies, traditional rulers, and government at all levels to address the state’s security challenges and achieve lasting peace.
As a gesture of compassion and solidarity, the Forum presented relief materials to the affected families to help cushion the impact of the tragedy.
Responding on behalf of the community, Chairman of the Youth Development Association, Mr. Samuel Domshak, thanked the Governor’s media aides for the visit and humanitarian support.
He appealed to the government and security agencies to establish a Mobile Police unit in Kawel Community to improve security and prevent future attacks.
Domshak described Kawel as a peaceful and accommodating community committed to peaceful coexistence, while insisting that residents would not allow anyone to take over their ancestral land.
Also speaking, the Executive Chairman of Bokkos Local Government Area, Hon. Amalau Samuel, represented by the Council Secretary, Mrs. Gambo Malau, praised the resilience and unity displayed by the youths of Kawel Community despite the tragedy.
She assured residents of the council’s continued support and pledged closer collaboration with traditional institutions and other stakeholders to strengthen security and restore lasting peace in the area.
