From Muawuya Bala Idris, Katsina
Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has called on residents of the state to renew the mandates of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections, saying this would promote further prosperity and development.
Radda made the call on Wednesday during the flag-off of the Tinubu/Dikko 2027 campaign in Funtua Local Government Area of Katsina State.
He said the campaign flag-off went beyond politics, describing it as an opportunity to present his administration’s achievements under the Building Your Future Agenda, listen to the people and renew his commitment to building a more secure, prosperous and inclusive Katsina State.
The governor said his administration had placed security at the centre of governance, working closely with security agencies, traditional institutions and the Federal Government to restore lasting peace across the state.
“Without peace, economic activities suffer, children cannot go to school, and farmers cannot go to farm. We will sustain the momentum until every resident can go about his lawful business without fear,” Radda said.
He also highlighted investments in road construction, urban renewal and energy solutions, describing Funtua as a strategic commercial hub that plays a significant role in agricultural trade and job creation.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting farmers, micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), women and young people through an enabling environment for entrepreneurship, skills acquisition and private-sector growth.
He added that his government was strengthening schools, improving teachers’ welfare and capacity, enhancing primary healthcare services and expanding health insurance coverage for vulnerable residents.
Radda commended President Tinubu for what he described as bold reforms under the Renewed Hope Agenda, pledging that Katsina State would continue to align its policies with federal initiatives to achieve greater development outcomes.
He urged APC candidates and stakeholders to conduct their campaigns with humility, discipline and respect for democratic choice.
The governor also called on party leaders and grassroots mobilisers across the state’s 34 local government areas and 361 wards to maintain unity, promote peaceful mobilisation and intensify door-to-door engagement with voters.
Earlier, the Director-General of the Tinubu/Dikko 2027 Campaign Council, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, thanked the people of Funtua Zone for their impressive turnout.
Dangiwa said President Tinubu was repositioning the national economy, while Governor Radda was delivering tangible results at the grassroots.
He urged party members to strengthen their structures in preparation for the 2027 elections.
Also speaking, the Katsina State APC Chairman, Dr. Bishir Gambo Saulawa, described the campaign flag-off as an opportunity to consolidate the party’s strength.
He presented party flags and banners to candidates contesting the three senatorial seats, 15 House of Representatives seats and 34 State House of Assembly seats, urging them to prioritise collective interests and effective representation.
The event was attended by Deputy Governor Hon. Faruk Lawal Jobe; former governors Aminu Bello Masari and Ibrahim Shehu Shema; national and state party leaders; federal and state lawmakers; local government chairmen; candidates; traditional rulers; and thousands of APC supporters from across Funtua Zone.
