Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has received the Director-General of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, and Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, as the party intensifies consultations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The delegation visited Government House, Birnin Kebbi, as part of efforts to engage traditional rulers, strengthen party coordination and mobilise support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.
Earlier, Idris accompanied the delegation to the palace of the Emir of Gwandu, Muhammadu Iliyasu Bashar, where they paid homage to the traditional ruler. The Emirs of Argungu, Yauri and Zuru also participated in the engagement.
Speaking at Government House, Yari commended Idris for facilitating the meeting with the traditional rulers, saying their participation had helped the campaign council advance its assignment.
He said the delegation was seeking the prayers, counsel and support of the royal fathers for Tinubu and the APC ahead of the elections.
Yari added that the council would work closely with party leaders and support groups to achieve its objectives, while urging APC members to close ranks and promote unity.
He expressed confidence in the party’s political structure in Kebbi State and thanked Idris for the reception accorded the delegation.
The campaign council director-general said the proposed campaign strategy would focus on presenting the Federal Government’s achievements and allowing Nigerians to assess its programmes and their impact on citizens.
On security, Yari acknowledged the challenges confronting Kebbi and other parts of the country, noting that insecurity predated the current administration.
He said the Federal Government and state governments were making efforts to address the situation through investments in security equipment and other interventions.
Yari also highlighted Federal Government initiatives in agriculture, student loans, cash transfers and infrastructure, which he said were aimed at improving citizens’ welfare and promoting national development.
In his remarks, Idris thanked the delegation for visiting the state and expressed appreciation to the traditional rulers for participating in the engagement.

He expressed confidence in the party’s leadership structure, saying prominent political figures in the state were working together to advance its interests.
The governor thanked the delegation for choosing Kebbi for the engagement and prayed for their safe return.
Earlier, the Emir of Gwandu and other traditional rulers offered prayers for the success of the APC in the 2027 general elections and Tinubu’s re-election for a second term.
