Kano State Deputy Governor, Murtala Sule Garo, has described the appointment of Alhaji Muhammad Ibrahim Ma’aji as Sarkin Yamman Gaya as appropriate, citing his contributions to business development, religious institutions and community unity.
Garo stated this at a reception held in honour of Ma’aji at Amani Event Centre, Kano, following his turbaning by the Emir of Gaya, Alhaji Dr Aliyu Ibrahim Abdulkadir.
In a statement issued on October 25, 2026, by the Deputy Governor’s Public Relations Officer, Lurwanu Idris Malikawa Garu, Garo said the traditional ruler had made the right choice in recognising Ma’aji’s contributions to the community.
“Indeed, the Emir of Gaya has placed a round peg in a round hole, in consideration of Ma’aji’s relentless efforts in contributing to the development of the business community, religious institutions and promoting unity among the people, as well as safeguarding and preserving our culture,” he said.
Ma’aji, chairman of Platinum Synergy Company, was recognised for his contributions to business development, religious institutions, unity and the preservation of cultural heritage.
The deputy governor prayed to Allah to guide Ma’aji in the discharge of his responsibilities as he begins his new role in the Gaya Emirate.
He expressed hope that the traditional titleholder would work closely with other district heads to sustain peaceful administration and preserve the emirate’s cultural and religious institutions.
Garo also urged Ma’aji to continue supporting residents and offering constructive advice to the emirate’s leadership to promote peace and contribute to community development.
Among the dignitaries who attended the reception were Alhaji Ahmad Ado Bayero, Dan Iyan Kano; Alhaji Dr Auwalu Mudi Yakasai, Danmalikin Kano and District Head of Rimin Gado; Alhaji Aminu Abdullahi Nasidi, District Head of Sumaila; and Alhaji Uba Abdullahi, among others.
