Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State administered the oath of office to 27 new permanent secretaries, urging them to prioritize hard work and efficiency in their roles.

During the swearing-in ceremony at the temporary government office, Governor Otu emphasized the importance of collaboration among the newly appointed officials in driving the state to greater heights.

He commended the increased representation of women in the permanent secretary positions and stressed the need for innovative thinking and accountability within the civil service.

The governor highlighted that the selection process for the permanent secretaries was based on existing vacancies within the Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), emphasizing the critical role each individual plays in their respective positions.

He reiterated the government’s commitment to the welfare of civil servants but warned that subpar performance would not be tolerated.

In his introductory remarks, the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Anthony Owan Enoh, described the appointments as a recognition of the individual’s hard work, dedication, and proven track record of excellence.

Dr. Jonah Bassey Offor, speaking on behalf of the newly appointed permanent secretaries, expressed gratitude for the appointments and pledged their commitment to working diligently to contribute to the progress of Cross River State.

The list of newly appointed permanent secretaries includes Bassey Onoyom Bassey, Offiong Ani Offiong, Joseph Ikongha Odey, Okorn Ayang Oyira, Helen Oyem Bessong, Engr. Paul Ugbe Bepeh, Rita Ashibibiye Eteng, Eyo Ekpe Offiong, Gold Okpo Nta, Caroline Enembe Edet, Balinwo Ofem Ofegobi, Dr. Jonah Bassey Offor.

Others were Glory Odu-Oji, Ekpenyong Micah Esuabana, Eyibio Kingsley Ndem, Philomena Nyire Nyiam, and Barr. Francis Adebe Oyije, Gabriel Ogbaji Ukwada, Engr. Okon Asuquo Ita, Dr. Eke Okon, Gertrude Odu, Jacqueline Akpanke, Barr. Lucy Bassey Enakirerhi, Ettah Inyang Eyo, Barr. Tony Effiom, Mr. John Odu, and Mr. Patrick Edi.
