Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has disbursed N50,000 each to 6,680 women to empower them and enable them to support their immediate families.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mustapha Muhammad.

The disbursement ceremony, which was held at the Government House, Kano, on Saturday, was attended by thousands of women from the 44 local government areas of the state, as well as members of the APC.

Governor Yusuf emphasized that the N50,000 empowerment grant would enable beneficiaries to contribute to the growth of petty trading across the state.

He revealed that these disbursements have been ongoing since the inception of the current administration, noting that the standard of living of thousands of underprivileged women has already improved significantly.

The Governor assured residents of continued dividends of democracy and urged them to maintain their support for the administration’s people-oriented programmes.

He expressed appreciation to the State House of Assembly, under the leadership of Speaker Hon. Jibrin Ismail Falgore, the chairmen of the 44 local government councils, and APC members for their roles in ensuring the programme achieves its objectives.

In his remarks, the Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Hon. Jibrin Ismail Falgore, urged beneficiaries to see the support as a blessing and appealed to them to make the best possible use of the funds.

In their respective speeches, the Member representing Fagge Federal Constituency, Barr. Shehu Mohammed Bello; the Chairperson of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Hajiya Saadatu Yushau Soja; and APC Women Leader, Hajiya Fatima Abdullahi Dala, commended Governor Yusuf for his commitment to human capital development and its direct impact on citizens.
