Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has applauded the National Tijjaniyah Sect for organising special prayers for lasting peace and economic prosperity across Nigeria.

This was contained in a statement issued by the governor’s spokesman, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Saturday.

Governor Yusuf made the commendation shortly after the Annual Tijjaniyah Zikr and Special Prayers for Nigeria, held at the Emir’s Palace in Kano on Friday.

The governor described the prayer session as timely, stressing that leaders at all levels require divine guidance to enable them protect lives and property while delivering people-oriented projects.

Addressing thousands of participants, Governor Yusuf disclosed that he had informed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu about the special prayer gathering and that the President expressed delight over the initiative.

According to the governor, President Tinubu had wished to personally attend the national prayer session but was unable to do so due to an emergency engagement.

Governor Yusuf assured the organisers of the Kano State Government’s continued support towards sustaining similar religious gatherings in the future.

He also appreciated the family of Sheikh Ibrahim Nyass for travelling from Senegal to participate in the special prayers, alongside other eminent Islamic scholars from different parts of Nigeria.

Earlier, the Emir of Kano, His Royal Highness Muhammadu Sanusi II, assured Governor Yusuf of the Tijjaniyah sect’s unwavering support and continuous prayers for the success of his administration.

The Emir stated that members of the Tijjaniyah sect had been praying for Governor Yusuf since 2022 and would continue to do so in recognition of his commitment to the development of Kano State and Nigeria.

The prayer session lasted for more than six hours before concluding with prayers for peace, unity and national prosperity.
