Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has responded to recent criticisms by former Deputy Governor Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, saying the former deputy has failed to offer meaningful ideas that could contribute to the progress and development of the state.

This was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.

Governor Yusuf made the remarks at the Government House in Kano while presenting the Certificate of Return to the newly elected member of the House of Representatives representing the Dawakin Kudu/Warawa Federal Constituency, Hon. Shu’aibu Rabi’u Nagogo (Abba Gano).

The governor said it was unfortunate that a politician of Gwarzo’s age and experience continued to engage in what he described as baseless criticism rather than offering constructive contributions on issues affecting the people.

According to Governor Yusuf, leadership requires vision, commitment, and the ability to provide solutions, not endless attacks aimed at attracting political attention.

“It is unfortunate that someone can grow old yet have no ideas beyond criticism,” the governor said.

Governor Yusuf maintained that his administration remains focused on delivering development projects and improving the living conditions of the people of Kano State.

He noted that while criticism is an essential part of democracy, it should be constructive and aimed at advancing the public good rather than promoting personal interests.

The governor also defended the political separation between himself and Gwarzo, alleging that the former deputy repeatedly showed disrespect to those who played key roles in his political rise.

“Just because we made you Commissioner for Local Government does not mean we will allow you to keep trampling on us. That is why God separated us from you,” Governor Yusuf stated.

He assured the people of Kano that his administration would not be distracted by political attacks and would remain focused on fulfilling its campaign promises.

Governor Yusuf reiterated his commitment to good governance, people-oriented policies, and the delivery of democratic dividends across the state.
