Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, on Saturday joined in celebrating the historic passing-out of 1,187 cadets of the 7th Regular Course at the Nigeria Police Academy (POLAC), Wudil, marking the largest graduating set in the academy’s history.
Governor Yusuf congratulated the cadets and their parents for reaching this milestone and commended the Commandant of the academy, AIG Patrick Adedeji Atayero, for overseeing the largest cohort in POLAC’s records.
According to a statement released by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mustapha Muhammad, the governor, who also received President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the event, expressed satisfaction with the level of preparedness and the colourful nature of the ceremony.
President Tinubu, represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, praised the academy’s achievements and called on the cadets to uphold professionalism, discipline, and integrity as they embark on their policing careers.
He reiterated the administration’s commitment to tackling the root causes of insecurity while promoting national stability across sectors.
The occasion was attended by the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, service chiefs, officials of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and other key stakeholders, including the representative of the Director General of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN).
Shortly after the graduation ceremony, Senator Akume paid a courtesy visit to Governor Yusuf at the Government House, Kano.
