Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf has on Sunday conducted an on-site inspection of the Kafinchiri Irrigation Project in Garko Local Government Area of the state.

The project, worth N2.5 billion, is a major initiative under the state’s agricultural transformation agenda aimed at enhancing food security, promoting year-round farming, and driving economic growth.

The governor underscored the importance of the Kafinchiri Irrigation Project, describing it as a cornerstone of his administration’s efforts to boost continuous agricultural production across the state.

He called on residents of Garko and environs areas to leverage the opportunities created by the project to improve their socio-economic status and contribute to the state’s overall development.

The governor also revoked the contract for the Garko Local Government five-kilometer road project due to the contractor’s failure to commence work on-site.

He assured that a new, reliable contractor would be appointed within days to ensure the road project’s timely completion.

He said: “We committed to establishing a modern health facility in Garko town to improve healthcare access for the local community.”

He further expressed appreciation for the ongoing support from residents and reiterated his administration’s dedication to sustaining progress in the state.

“Our actions are to reflect our commitment to infrastructure development, agricultural enhancement, and community welfare for the peoples of Kano, he added.
