Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has mourned the killing of Sadiq Gentle, a Senior Special Reporter with the state’s Ministry of History and Culture, and ordered security agencies to launch a manhunt for his killers.
Gentle died from injuries sustained in a recent attack by suspected hoodlums.
In a statement by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the governor described the late aide as “a dedicated and patriotic social media professional” whose violent death had cast a dark cloud over the state government and the media community.
“The news of the death of Malam Sadiq Gentle hit me with deep sadness and anguish,” Yusuf said. “He was not only a devoted public servant but also a man of peace and integrity who served the state with utmost dedication. His gruesome murder is a tragedy and an affront to our collective humanity.”
The governor condemned the killing as “heinous, barbaric, and utterly unacceptable,” and extended condolences to Gentle’s family, friends, and professional colleagues, assuring them of the government’s solidarity.
He directed security agencies to “swing into action” to track down and bring the perpetrators to justice without delay.
