Katsina State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of 50 youths during the nationwide protest.
The state Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Abubakar Musa told newsmen that the suspects were arrested in an attempt to cause violence and loot properties.
Musa said the suspect will soon be charged in court after an investigation.
He said the suspects were arrested in different parts of the state with the majority from Katsina town.
“ln Daura alone we arrested seven suspects while the majority of those arrested are from Katsina metropolitan,” Musa said.
The Police Commissioner denied reports of violence or killings during the protest.
His words, “We are yet to receive a report of any violence or killing of either Police or protester, adding that Police and other security agencies will continue to maintain law and order in the state,” Musa added.
