As political campaigns begin to gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Ideal Progressive Movement (IPM) has declared its full support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State.
In a statement issued by Effiom Gertrude, the movement said it had endorsed all APC candidates and pledged 100 per cent support for the party in the 2027 elections.
The declaration was made on Monday during the movement’s inaugural meeting held in Calabar, the Cross River State capital.
The statewide event attracted members, supporters and distinguished leaders who expressed their support for the movement’s vision of unity, progress and grassroots participation.
At the centre of the event was the formal endorsement of all APC candidates. AIG Chief Enene Okon (Rtd.), on behalf of the Ideal Progressive Movement, formally announced the endorsement, describing it as a collective commitment to the APC and its candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.
The declaration was followed by a motion in support of the endorsement, moved by Comr. Peter Okon, Special Adviser on Security to the Executive Chairman of Bakassi Local Government Area.
The motion was supported by members present, further strengthening the movement’s resolve to work for the success of all APC candidates.
The event also witnessed the inauguration of ward coordinators as part of efforts to take the movement’s activities directly to the grassroots.
The inauguration was performed by Hon. Princess Christiana Eso, Executive Vice Chairman of Bakassi LGA.
While congratulating the newly inaugurated coordinators, Princess Christiana Eso charged them to treat their appointments as a responsibility to the movement and the communities they represent.
She urged them to hit the ground running by mobilising their respective wards, engaging community stakeholders and commencing activities aimed at strengthening the movement’s grassroots structure ahead of 2027.
The Ideal Progressive Movement further noted that it enjoys the support of many of its distinguished leaders, whose commitment has continued to strengthen its activities and organisational structure.
The movement also reaffirmed its commitment and full support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Cross River State Governor, Senator Bassey Edet Otu, Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong, Rt. Hon. Joseph Bassey and Andrea Ekeng Inyang ahead of the 2027 elections.
According to the movement, the inauguration of the ward coordinators marks the beginning of a more coordinated grassroots mobilisation campaign.
The coordinators are expected to mobilise members, engage communities, strengthen the movement’s presence in their respective wards and promote peaceful political participation.
The Ideal Progressive Movement urged its members to remain united, disciplined and focused as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum.
With its endorsement and new grassroots structure in place, the movement said it was fully prepared to mobilise support for the APC and its candidates.
