The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Katsina State, Senator Yakubu Lado Danmarke, has expressed confidence in his chances of winning the 2027 governorship election.
Lado spoke on Sunday while receiving members of the Katsina Frontier in Support of Senator Yakubu Lado for Governorship at a ceremony held at Munaj Centre.
He said his candidacy was gaining overwhelming support from the people, with members of different political parties defecting to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
According to him, he had contested the governorship election five times under different political parties but was unsuccessful, insisting that he was confident of winning the 2027 election.
“I have contested five times under different political parties, but this time, I am confident of winning the election,” he said.
Lado said he was not contesting the election to enrich himself, build houses or marry new wives, but to rescue Katsina State from what he described as the poor leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He criticised the APC administration in Katsina State under Governor Dikko Radda, alleging that it had failed to deliver effective governance across various sectors.
“APC administration in Katsina State under the leadership of Dikko Radda has destroyed all sectors. Government ministries are not working as expected,” he said.
The PDP candidate further accused Governor Radda of failing to address the persistent insecurity in the state, lamenting that people were being killed and kidnapped for ransom by bandits.
He called on the people of Katsina State to use their votes in the 2027 election to change the APC-led government and rescue the state.
Lado welcomed members of the Katsina Frontier and assured them of fair treatment and support.
Earlier, a university don, Dr. Abdulmakiyi Hassan Rafindadi, commended Senator Lado for providing humanitarian assistance to the needy and introducing scholarship allowances for thousands of vulnerable students.
Hassan described Lado as the preferred choice of Katsina State for the 2027 governorship election, expressing confidence that his election would be a blessing to the state.
In his remarks, the leader and coordinator of the Katsina Frontier, Ali Sani, promised to mobilise supporters and conduct house-to-house campaigns to secure victory for the PDP.
He called on the people of the state to elect all PDP candidates, assuring them that the party would not disappoint them.
