The Illela Border Command of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), welcomed the newly posted Comptroller of Immigration, CIS Tony Akuneme pcc, who took over the leadership of the Command from CIS Ismaila Usman pcc.

Usman who retired from the service after 35 years of meritorious service to his fatherland.

CIS Akuneme inspected the quarter guards parade mounted in his honour before exchanging pleasantries and pictures with the heads of sister agencies present to welcome him to Illela according to statement issued on Friday by DSI Abdullahi Mohammed,Public Relation Office of the command .

After the official handing/taking over ceremony, the new CIS went round and inspected some of the commands facilities, structures, including the departure and the arrival wing of Illela Control post and the new e border gates under construction, the ICT control room as well as the barracks, among others.

He also meets with the sectional heads as well as all officers and men of the Command.

In his remarks, the CIS Tony thanked God and the CGIS for giving him the opportunity to be part of the ongoing border security reinvigoration nationwide.

He called on the officers and men to be dedicated, hardworking and disciplined in line with the CGs zero corruption mantra.

He directed the PRO and the OC ICT to organize a computer training session immediately for officers and men in the command.

He also promised to bring positive changes and policies that will be of a great impact to the Command, the NIS as well as the members of the border community.
