From Christiana Gokyo, Jos

The ECWA Theological Seminary, Jos (JETS), has responded to a series of defamatory YouTube videos published by a channel named “The True Christian Faith.” These videos allegedly target the institution with cyberattacks and defamatory remarks, following JETS’ decision to confer an Honorary Doctorate on Apostle Arome Osayi.

In a statement signed and issued in Jos by JETS Provost, Rev. Prof. Sunday Bobai Agang, the institution described the attacks as “unjust, unfair, and unchristian.”

The statement emphasized that JETS does not recognize the self-appointed authority of the critic behind the channel and has no intention of engaging in a war of words. Instead, the seminary remains focused on its core values, mission, vision, and mandate, which prioritize constructive dialogue and public theology.

“We note that the critic has a history of cyberbullying and attacking the theological views of others, including renowned church leaders. JETS considers the critic’s approach to be reactive, unchristian, and unlawful,” the statement read.

The seminary clarified that the decision to honor Apostle Arome Osayi was made following due process and in line with its traditions. The award recognizes Apostle Osayi’s significant contributions to social advocacy, church work, and community development.

“JETS will not be intimidated by these attacks and stands firmly by its evangelical theology and commitment to serving God in a lawful and loving manner. We will not apologize for our actions, which align with our core values and mission,” the statement added.

The institution also encouraged individuals with questions or concerns to contact them directly, reiterating its dedication to transparency and engagement with the public.
