The Plateau State Police Command has commended the efforts of sister security agencies, state government officials, and volunteers over the help rendered to the students of the St. Academy School behind St. Murumba Jos during the collapse School’s building.

According to the Command among the total of 154 students trapped in the School two-storey collapsed building, 132 were rescued while 22 deaths were recorded from the unfortunate incident.

All rescued victims are receiving treatment at Plateau State Specialist Hospital, Bingham University Teaching Hospital, Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) and OLA Hospital in Plateau State and they are responding to treatment.

The Commissioner of Police Plateau State Command, CP Emmanuel Olugbemiga Adesina expresses intense grieve over the fatal incident that occurred at Saint Academy School, Jos in the early hours of Friday (today), where the school building collapsed and trapped students being attended to by their teachers in their classrooms.

All emergency assets of the Command were deployed and were also at the scene of the incident to assess the situation and ensure that the personnel and assets deployed to the scene were committed and effectively used to save lives.

CP Adesina deeply commiserates with the parents and families of the victims of the ugly incident and assures that adequate measures have been taken by the Police and the State government to ensure that the rescued victims get the necessary medical attention.

He also commended the concerns, efforts and valour of other security agencies, State Government officials, and volunteers who worked closely with the Police to rescue and convey victims to the hospital.
