From Joseph Asegba, Yola
Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has congratulated the newly elected executives of the Adamawa State chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), urging them to justify the confidence reposed in them by their colleagues through purposeful leadership and commitment to grassroots development.
Governor Fintiri stated that the new executives emerged after a peaceful election conducted on Wednesday, following the swearing-in of the 21 elected Local Government Council Chairmen in the state.
At the end of the election, Dr. Titus Obadiah, Chairman of Mayo-Belwa Local Government Council, emerged as the Chairman of the Adamawa State ALGON chapter. Yusuf Mohammed, Chairman of Madagali Local Government Council, was elected Vice Chairman, while Barrister Ibrahim Jibrin, Chairman of Yola North Local Government Council, retained his position as Secretary.
The Governor described their emergence as well deserved, saying it demonstrated the trust, confidence, and respect they enjoy among their fellow council chairmen.
Fintiri noted that the new leadership assumed office at a critical period when visionary leadership, experience, and dedication are needed to strengthen grassroots governance and accelerate development across the state’s 21 Local Government Areas.
He urged the executives to remain united, provide effective leadership, and prioritise the welfare and aspirations of the people.
“I want to use this medium to congratulate you on this well-deserved victory.
“The confidence your colleagues have placed in you is a call to greater service.
“Do not betray that trust. Uphold the values of accountability, transparency, teamwork, and selfless service as you work together to advance grassroots development across our state,” the Governor said.
Governor Fintiri reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening local government administration and maintaining a strong partnership with council leadership to deliver meaningful development to communities across Adamawa State.
He wished the newly elected ALGON executives a successful and impactful tenure.
