Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has unveiled a Revolving Loan Scheme with a seed fund of N500 million to help civil servants meet their financial needs.

The scheme, which offers a single-digit interest rate of 5%, is designed to improve access to funds while easing the financial burden on civil servants.

The announcement was made by the Governor’s Principal Private Secretary during a media briefing organized by the Kaduna State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) on December 26, 2024.

The loan scheme is part of the administration’s broader efforts to support civil servants, including clearing outstanding pension arrears and gratuities.

Over the past 18 months, the state government has disbursed approximately N4.7 billion to settle death and gratuity benefits, underscoring its commitment to the welfare of workers.

“The Uba Sani administration is firmly committed to accountability and transparency. These principles are non-negotiable,” the Principal Private Secretary emphasized, pointing to Kaduna’s top ranking in the 2024 Transparency and Public Integrity Index by the Center for Fiscal Transparency and Public Integrity Watch (CeFTPIW).

Kaduna ranked first among all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, earning a score of 51.42.

CeFTPIW, a non-governmental organization established in 2016, promotes good governance through enhanced transparency and accountability in public institutions.

Additionally, Kaduna State secured second place in the ICAN Accountability and Transparency Index, further solidifying its reputation for efficient resource management and integrity.

Governor Uba Sani’s initiatives reflect his commitment to financial prudence and civil service welfare, continuing to set Kaduna State apart in terms of governance standards.

In related news, Governor Uba Sani has appointed Mrs. Florence Austin as the Interim Head of a newly established position aimed at strengthening governance and administrative efficiency in the state.
