The newly appointed Kano State Commissioner for Investment, Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives, Hon. Ibrahim Namadi Dala, has unveiled an ambitious 30-day action plan aimed at repositioning the state’s commercial and industrial sectors, attracting investment and creating sustainable employment opportunities.

Namadi disclosed this while formally assuming office, expressing gratitude to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for the confidence reposed in him and pledging to bring his local and international business experience to bear on the state’s economic development.

He described Kano as a major commercial centre with enormous economic potential, which requires strategic policies and effective institutions to achieve sustainable growth.

The commissioner identified market stability, the resolution of leadership disputes in major markets, the establishment of a harmonised business database and improved monitoring of warehouses as immediate priorities.

He also promised to strengthen collaboration with relevant agencies to ensure the safety and quality of consumable goods within the state’s markets.

Namadi explained that his first 30 days in office would focus on establishing a clear policy direction through consultations with ministry officials, market leaders, business associations, investors and relevant institutions.

He said the period would also involve a comprehensive assessment of existing programmes, challenges and opportunities within the ministry.

The commissioner further emphasised the need to move Kano’s economy beyond traditional trading by strengthening the entire commercial value chain, including production, processing, distribution, investment and market access.

He said his leadership would prioritise supporting existing businesses, promoting industrial development, encouraging entrepreneurship and improving economic data for effective government planning.

Namadi called for collective commitment from the ministry’s management and staff, private-sector operators, investors, development partners and business associations.

He stressed that collaboration, accountability and measurable performance would be essential to achieving the desired transformation.

The commissioner assured the people of Kano that his leadership would be guided by consultation, transparency and practical results.

He expressed confidence that the ministry could become more effective in attracting investment, supporting businesses, protecting consumers and improving livelihoods across the state.
