A talented group of deaf students from Special Education Secondary School, Tudun Maliki, Kano, is set to represent the state at the 6th edition of the National Deaf Secondary Schools Football Championship, the “A.A. Sule Cup 2024.”

The championship, organized by the Nigeria Deaf Football Association, is aimed at promoting inclusivity, empowering deaf students, and nurturing their football talents. It will take place from December 5th to 15th, 2024, at the Lafia Township Stadium in Nasarawa State.

Nasarawa State Governor, A.A. Sule, is expected to officially open the championship, with other dignitaries from within and outside the state in attendance.

The Nigeria Deaf Football Association has sent invitations to various state governments, encouraging them to support their deaf football teams and motivate them to excel.

Malam Ibrahim Bello, the Director of Sports in the Kano State Ministry of Education, expressed enthusiasm about the opportunity to showcase the talents of Kano’s deaf football players.

He confirmed that the coaching staff of the ministry has already initiated an open camp for the students of Special Education Secondary School Tudun Maliki as part of their preparation for the championship.

Malam Bello extended his gratitude to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and the Commissioner of Education, Alhaji Umar Haruna Doguwa, for their unwavering support to sports development in the state.

He assured that the ministry will continue to prioritize the development of various sporting events, including football, in Kano and Nigeria as a whole.
