Former Deputy Governor of Kano State, Hafizu Abubakar, on Tuesday visited the Deputy Governor of the state, Murtala Sule Garo, and expressed support for the “Kano First” agenda of the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
Abubakar spoke during a courtesy visit to Garo at his office in Kano.
He described the “Kano First” initiative as a policy designed to promote the collective interest and wellbeing of the people of the state rather than personal gains.
“We are truly happy beyond expectations over your new role,” Abubakar said.
He also praised Garo’s loyalty and obedience to leadership, expressing confidence that he would continue to support Governor Yusuf in delivering democratic dividends to the people.
The former deputy governor described the office of the deputy governor as sensitive and demanding, praying for Allah’s guidance and protection for Garo throughout his tenure.
Earlier, Garo commended Abubakar for his continued commitment and contributions to the development of Kano State.
The deputy governor disclosed that the former deputy governor had made several attempts to visit him after his assumption of office, but he initially insisted on paying the first visit himself as a sign of respect.
“Whenever an elder wishes to do something, as a mentee you have to accept it. I also promise to reciprocate the visit,” Garo said.
He described their relationship as longstanding and built on mutual respect and understanding.
Garo also appealed to the former deputy governor to continue offering advice and guidance towards the development of the state.
“We value your experience and wisdom. Kano State will continue to benefit from your counsel and contributions,” he added.
Abubakar pledged his continued support and readiness to contribute ideas and advice toward the growth of Kano State and Nigeria at large.
“I call on all supporters of His Excellency Garo to continue praying for him to succeed in all his affairs,” he added.
