The Kano State Government has commenced a week-long Free Oral Health Outreach Programme aimed at boosting access to quality dental care for residents across the state.
The exercise was flagged off yesterday at the Kwankwaso General Hospital, Madobi Local Government Area, and will run until Thursday, 21st August, 2025.
The closing ceremony is expected to take place at Filin Mushe Primary Healthcare Centre, Gwale Local Government Area.
The development was contained in a statement issued and signed by Nabilusi Abubakar K/Na’isa, the Public Relations Officer of the ministry, which was made available to The Triumph.
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, represented by the Director of Medical Services, Dr. Shehu Abdullahi, said the initiative reflects the present administration’s commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of citizens.
According to him, the outreach is targeted at providing free oral health services to more than 1,000 beneficiaries.
The services include free drugs, tooth extractions, dental fillings, scaling and polishing, as well as the distribution of mouthwash to encourage proper dental hygiene and prevent oral diseases.
Dr. Yusuf stressed that the oral health campaign forms part of the state’s broader healthcare reforms designed to ensure equitable access to medical services across all communities.
He reassured that similar outreach activities will continue to be conducted in other parts of the state to strengthen preventive healthcare and improve public health outcomes.
