The Kano state Government has inaugurates the voters registration which drew key government officials, civil society representatives, stakeholders from electoral bodies, was aimed at strengthening public awareness and participation in the on-going voter registration exercise across the country.
Speaking during the event, Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Umar Farouq Ibrahim explained that the Taskforce was established to sensitize citizens on the importance of registering and ensuring that every eligible citizen is captured ahead of forthcoming general elections.
The SSG added that the move is part of broader efforts to deepen democracy and guarantee creditable elections by enhancing voter turnout.
In his remarks the chairman of the Committee mobilization and Commissioner of Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya thanked the State Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf for giving him the opportunity to served as the Chairman of the Mobilization Committee on Voters registration.
“I thank you sincerely for this honor, this recognition, and this confidence reposed in us. We assure you that we will not disappoint you,thank you very much.”said by the Chairman
In their separate remarks, various participants commended the initiative, pledging their support towards creating greater enlightenment in both urban and rural communities.
The inauguration of the Mobilization Taskforce on Voter Registration is expected to mark a new phase in the drive for mass participation in the democratic process.
