The Kano State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to digital entrepreneurship as a tool for economic growth, with the official commissioning of the reconstructed Kano Digital Industrial Park.

The commissioning, held in Kano on Tuesday, was performed on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu by the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijjani.

Speaking at the event, the Deputy Governor of Kano State, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo, who represented Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, thanked the Federal Government and the Ministry of Communications for renovating the park, which had earlier been vandalised during nationwide protests.

Gwarzo described the project as a major step towards unlocking digital opportunities for young people in the state.

“This project is a cornerstone of our administration’s commitment to driving economic development through digital empowerment. It will provide critical infrastructure for innovation, entrepreneurship, and youth engagement,” he said.

He noted that the facility would serve as a hub for technology-driven businesses, job creation, and infrastructural development, in line with the vision of the Kano State Government to build a sustainable and inclusive economy.

On his part, Dr. Tijjani commended the Kano State Government for its collaboration and expressed hope that the state would ensure effective management of the facility to maximise its impact on youth development.

He stressed the importance of such infrastructure in advancing Nigeria’s digital economy agenda and urged stakeholders to harness the potential of the centre to contribute to national growth.

The commissioning of the park is expected to open up opportunities for startups, boost innovation, and strengthen digital skills among youths in the region.
