The Team Manager of Kano Pillars Basketball Club and former head coach of Nigeria’s national basketball team, Coach Sani Ahmad, has dedicated the club’s latest victory in the ongoing Nigerian Premier Basketball League Second Phase to the Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf.

Coach Ahmad made the dedication while speaking to journalists shortly after the Pyramid City side recorded its fourth consecutive victory in Minna, the Niger State capital.

The competition, organised by the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF), is currently taking place in two centres—Minna and Enugu State.

According to him, Kano Pillars have so far won four matches in the league, defeating Bauchi Nets, Gombe Bulls, Niger Potters and City Chiefs of Abuja.

He described the impressive run as a strong indication that the team is on course to qualify for the Final Eight, scheduled to hold later this year.

The team manager noted that despite the financial challenges facing the club, the players have remained focused and committed to projecting the positive image of the administration of Governor Yusuf through their performances on the court.

He appealed to the Kano State Government to urgently come to the aid of the team and address its current financial difficulties to enable it achieve its objectives for the season.

Coach Ahmad also commended the players for their dedication, commitment and sacrifices, urging them to maintain their momentum and remain focused on emerging overall champions at the end of the tournament.

Kano Pillars will face Nike University in their fifth match on Thursday.
