The Kano State Government has reaffirmed its dedication to advancing education through the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI), pledging to implement effective policies that will foster rapid and sustainable growth in the sector.
The assurance was given by the Deputy Governor of Kano State, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo, during the 3rd Annual National Conference organized by the School of Secondary Education (Business), Federal College of Education (Technical), Bichi.
The conference, themed “Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a Catalyst for Creativity and Productivity in Business Education in Nigeria,” drew the participation of notable academics and education stakeholders across the country.
Addressing participants at the event, the Deputy Governor emphasized the importance of embracing AI technologies as vital tools for national development, particularly in the areas of technical and vocational training, skills acquisition, education, security, and governance.
“Artificial Intelligence has become a key driver of global transformation, and as a government, we are determined to harness its power to enhance creativity, productivity, and competitiveness among our youth,” Comrade Gwarzo stated.
He added, “Under the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, we are fully committed to using AI to reform our educational systems and empower the younger generation with 21st-century skills.”
Also speaking at the event, the Provost of the Federal College of Education (Technical), Bichi, Dr. Bashir Sabo Abubakar, lauded the Kano State Government for its continued investment in education, especially in revitalizing technical schools and promoting skills acquisition programs.
“We are deeply honoured by the presence of the Deputy Governor. His attendance signifies the importance the state government attaches to education and innovation. We commend their efforts in positioning Kano as a hub for technical advancement,” Dr. Abubakar said.
The conference featured scholarly presentations by Professor Auwal Haruna and Professor Mukhtar Shehu Aliyu, who both highlighted how Artificial Intelligence can reshape the landscape of business education in Nigeria.
In a statement issued by the Information Officer in the Office of the Deputy Governor, Yusuf Abubakar Ibrahim, it was reaffirmed that the Kano State Government remains unwavering in its mission to deliver quality education and equip students with the tools needed to thrive in the digital economy.
The event concluded with renewed calls for collaboration between government, academia, and industry to ensure the successful integration of AI into Nigeria’s educational framework.
