Transport sector stakeholders in Kano State have applauded the Managing Director of the Kano Road Traffic Agency (KAROTA), Hon. Faisal Mahmud Kabir, for his outstanding leadership and far-reaching reforms which they said have transformed the agency’s operations and improved its relationship with road users.
The stakeholders, drawn from commercial drivers’ unions, road transport employers’ associations and other professionals within the transport sector, converged at the KAROTA headquarters to commend the Managing Director for what they described as remarkable achievements recorded since his appointment by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf in 2023.
They said the reforms introduced under Faisal Mahmud Kabir had brought greater professionalism, discipline and efficiency to the agency, particularly in the conduct of traffic enforcement personnel across the state.
According to the stakeholders, the conduct of KAROTA personnel has improved considerably, with officers now carrying out their responsibilities with greater dignity, civility and decorum. They noted that the development has strengthened public confidence in the agency and contributed to a more orderly traffic management system.
Speaking on staff welfare and capacity development the Director of Administration and General Services, Comrade Mahmud Haido said the Managing Director had taken deliberate steps to formalise the appointment and career structure of KAROTA personnel in line with the state Civil Service system.
He disclosed that the administration had also introduced various welfare packages and staff development initiatives aimed at enhancing productivity, motivation and professional competence. He added that personnel had been encouraged and supported to pursue further studies and acquire additional qualifications for career advancement.
In his response, Hon. Faisal Mahmud Kabir assured members of staff that the management would continue to prioritise their welfare, professional development and conducive working conditions. He urged personnel to reciprocate the efforts by demonstrating discipline, dedication and commitment to effective service delivery.
The KAROTA boss also expressed appreciation to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for his continued support and confidence in the agency saying the achievements recorded under his leadership would have been difficult to attain without the administration’s backing and commitment.
He urged KAROTA personnel to sustain the momentum of the reforms while calling on transport stakeholders and the general public to continue cooperating with the agency in its efforts to improve road safety, traffic management and orderly transportation across Kano State.
The ceremony featured the presentation of awards and letters of commendation to outstanding KAROTA personnel, alongside the decoration of newly promoted staff in recognition of their dedication, professionalism and contribution to the agency’s development.
