A Kano woman, Hafsatu Yusuf, has given birth to quintuplets at the Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, with the state government taking responsibility for their medical care.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Ministry of Health, Nabilusi Abubakar K/Na’isa.

According to the statement, the woman delivered the five babies—three boys and two girls—barely 15 minutes before the information was made public.

It added that both the mother and the newborns are currently receiving special medical attention from doctors and other healthcare personnel at the facility.

The husband of the woman, Malam Salisu Nufi’u, a tricycle rider, expressed appreciation to the state government for the intervention, describing it as timely support.

“This support has come at a very critical moment for my family, and we are deeply grateful to the government,” he said.

The government said the intervention forms part of its broader efforts to strengthen the healthcare sector, particularly in improving maternal and child health services.

It reiterated its commitment to reducing maternal and infant mortality rates and ensuring access to quality healthcare, especially for vulnerable residents across the state.

“We will continue to support the general public, particularly the less privileged, to ensure they have access to quality healthcare services,” the statement added.
