…As Kano High Court sacks LG boss

Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC) has officially presented a Certificate of Return to Ali Musa Danmaliki ( Hard Worker), as dully elected chairman of Kumbotso Local Government Area in the state.
The presentation of the certificate followed a High Court ruling in the state in favour of Danmaliki.
The information was contained in a statement issued by the Director Public Enlightenment, Government House, Malam Usman Gwadabe on Tuesday.
The presentation took place at the Government House, Kano on Tuesday, in the presence of the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Hon. Ismail Jibril Falgore.
Speaking at the event, KANSIEC chairman, Prof. Sani Lawal Malumfashi, stated that the commission acted in accordance with the constitution by implementing the court’s directive.
Prof. Malumfashi emphasised that KANSIEC’s statutory mandate includes organising elections and issuing certificates to winners, as well as upholding the rule of law by respecting judicial pronouncements.
“We are here to act strictly on the State High Court verdict by presenting a Certificate of Return to the duly declared winner and elected Chairman of Kumbotso Local Government Council, Ali Musa Danmaliki,” Prof. Malumfashi stated.
Consequently, KANSIEC has retrieved the certificate previously issued to Abdullahi Ghali Shitu following the 2024 Local Government Elections.
Representing the party’s position, Kano APC Chairman, Alhaji Haruna Duguwa noted that the party remained committed to respecting the rule of law, regardless of whether a judgement is in its favour.
He urged the new Chairman to align with his constituents and partner with the state government to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people.
In his remarks, the elected chairman, Alhaji Danmaliki expressed his gratitude to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for respecting the court order.
He assured his loyalty to the administration and vowed to work tirelessly toward the governor’s reelection in the 2027 general elections.
