The Member representing Dandume Constituency in the Katsina State House of Assembly, Yahaya Nuhu Mahuta, has lauded Governor Dikko Umaru Radda for his exceptional leadership and commitment to improving healthcare delivery, following the upgrade of the Comprehensive Health Centre in Dandume to a full-fledged General Hospital.
Speaking with newsmen, Mahuta described the development as a historic milestone that has fulfilled a long-standing aspiration of the people.
He said the upgrade demonstrates the governor’s genuine concern for the well-being of citizens through impactful policies and projects.
“Governor Radda has truly met our expectations in the health sector. The upgrade of this facility to a general hospital is a clear testament to his people-oriented leadership and dedication to improving the lives of our communities,” he said.
The lawmaker stated that the transformation of the facility would significantly improve access to quality healthcare services, stressing that residents would no longer endure the hardship of traveling long distances in search of medical attention.
“For years, our people faced serious challenges accessing healthcare, often traveling to Funtua, Katsina, or even Zaria. Today, that burden has been lifted. With this development, quality healthcare services are now within reach,” Mahuta added.
He further expressed optimism that the upgraded hospital would attract qualified and experienced medical personnel, including doctors and other essential healthcare workers, thereby addressing the shortage of skilled staff in the area.
“With the presence of competent and sufficient healthcare professionals, the era of referring our patients to distant hospitals will soon come to an end. This is a major relief for our people,” he noted.
Mahuta also commended the Governor for creating employment opportunities through the development, noting that giving priority to qualified indigenes would empower local youths and stimulate economic growth within the community.
“This initiative goes beyond healthcare. It is also about job creation and community development. Our youths now have an opportunity to contribute to the growth of their own community,” he said.
He called on qualified individuals from the area to take advantage of the opportunity and play active roles in sustaining the improved healthcare system, while also urging residents and stakeholders to support the government’s efforts.
The lawmaker emphasized that the upgrade of the Dandume facility to a General Hospital marks the realization of a long-awaited dream, describing it as a turning point in the delivery of healthcare services in the area.
