The Katsina State Bureau of Statistics has commenced field operations for the 2024/2025 State Gross Domestic Product Survey with the deployment of enumerators across the 34 local government areas of the state.

Speaking during the distribution of survey materials at the bureau’s headquarters in Katsina, the Statistician-General, Saifullahi Sani Matazu, described the exercise as a strategic initiative aimed at generating reliable and comprehensive economic data for the state.

He said the survey would serve as a critical instrument for measuring the overall economic performance of Katsina State and provide credible statistics to support evidence-based planning, budgeting and policy formulation.

According to him, the data generated from the exercise will offer detailed insights into key sectors of the state’s economy, thereby strengthening government decision-making processes and enhancing transparency in development planning.

“The SGDP survey is vital to the socio-economic advancement of Katsina State. Its outcome will guide government, development partners and investors in making informed and strategic decisions,” Matazu said.

He expressed appreciation to Governor Dikko Umaru Radda for his sustained support towards institutionalising a robust statistical system in the state and ensuring the successful implementation of the survey.

Matazu urged the enumerators to uphold professionalism, integrity and diligence in the discharge of their responsibilities, stressing the need for strict adherence to survey guidelines and accuracy in data collection throughout the fieldwork period.

The 2024/2025 SGDP survey is expected to cover major sectors of the state’s economy, providing comprehensive and up-to-date data to strengthen economic analysis, attract investment and promote sustainable development in Katsina State.
