From Mu’awiya Bala Idris, Katsina
Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda, on Tuesday swore in Mutawakkil Mustapha Salis as an Honourable Khadi of the Katsina State Shari’a Court of Appeal, charging him to uphold integrity, fairness and the fear of God in the discharge of his duties.
The ceremony, held at the Government House, Katsina, attracted dignitaries from the Executive, Legislative and Judicial arms of government, members of the State Executive Council, traditional rulers, Islamic scholars and family members of the appointee.
Describing the appointment as a step towards strengthening the Shari’a judicial system in the state, the governor said it would enhance justice delivery across Katsina.
“Today, we are swearing in a new Honourable Khadi of the Katsina State Shari’a Court of Appeal. This appointment strengthens our judicial system and improves the delivery of justice to our people,” Radda said.
He congratulated the new Khadi and commended the State Judicial Service Commission for what he termed a thorough and merit-based selection process.
“Your office is a great responsibility. You must always remember the oath you have taken and let it guide your actions. Justice must be served without fear or favour,” the governor stated.
Radda reminded the appointee that the position was a sacred trust before God and the people, urging him to be guided by fairness, honesty and the teachings of Islam.
“The judiciary remains the last hope of the common man. Public confidence depends on the integrity and diligence of judicial officers,” he added.
The governor also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the judiciary and promoting collaboration among the three arms of government to ensure peace, order and justice in the state.
In his remarks, the Grand Khadi, Prof. Kabir Abubakar, commended the state government for its sustained support to the Shari’a legal system.
He described the occasion as historic and urged the newly sworn-in Khadi to fear Allah and discharge his duties with utmost sincerity and commitment.
