Katsina State Government has introduced the Central Billing Platform to improve internal revenue generation in the state.

The Executive Chairman of the state Internal Revenue Service, Isyaku Mohammed, disclosed this in an interview with newsmen.

He stressed that the central billing is also aimed at eliminating the diversion of revenue to private pockets.

“The central billing was the first to be introduced since the creation of Katsina in 1987. It was targeted to address linkages in revenue collection,” Mohammed said.

Mahammed said the system was introduced in June this year to help simplify the payment of revenue to the government.

“The new system provides an opportunity for the taxpayer to pay tax or revenue in his room, place of work or anywhere in the world,” he added.

“You can pay your revenue through the use of a Tax identification number (TIN) and issue a receipt instantly,” he emphasized.

Mohammed noted that central billing will help to increase revenue for the government.

According to him, in June this year, the revenue for the state rose to N933 million against N700 million before the introduction of the new system.

He further said in July this year the revenue rose to N1.856billion.

The Executive Chairman said for the success of the central billing platform, the government has embarked on enlightening people on its importance.
