From Muawuya Bala Idris, Katsina
Katsina State Executive Council has approved the establishment of 38 centres for the sale of food items at subsidised rates to the public.
The Special Adviser on Rural Economy, Engr. Yakubu Nuhu Danja revealed this while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the Executive Council meeting.
Danja said the measure taken would assist in ensuring the availability of food items and minimize economic hardship being faced by the people.
“The government was aware of the rising cost of food items and working to come up with measures to alleviate the suffering of the people,” he said.
He said that based on the arrangement, the government will set up one centre in each local government area.
According to him, given the high population, two additional centres will be established in the Katsina local government, while Daura and Funtua will also get four centres.
He said the establishment of the centres would be in phases, assuring that the government, in due course, will ensure the take-off of the centres in 361 wards.
He assured that all necessary measures are taken for the functioning of the centres without any hitch.Compose Message
