Katsina State Deputy Governor, Faruk Lawal Jobe, has inaugurated a committee tasked with implementing the new minimum wage for civil servants in the state.

The committee, which is expected to submit its report within three weeks, was formed in response to the economic challenges posed by the recent withdrawal of fuel subsidy.

The inauguration ceremony took place at the old Government House, where the Deputy Governor emphasized the importance of the committee’s work in addressing the financial difficulties faced by civil servants.

He highlighted the need for a timely and efficient implementation process to ensure that the benefits of the new minimum wage reach all eligible employees

The committee, chaired by the Secretary to the State Government, will work closely with the Permanent Secretary of the Establishment and Pension department, who will serve as the committee’s secretary.

The chairman of the committee, Abdullahi Faskari, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve and pledged to diligently fulfill the committee’s mandate.

He assured the Deputy Governor that the committee would work diligently to deliver a comprehensive report within the stipulated timeframe.

The establishment of this committee signifies the state government’s commitment to the welfare of its civil servants and its proactive approach to addressing the economic challenges brought about by recent policy changes.
