Katsina State has received a donation of medical equipment valued at over $10 million from World Medical Relief, a nonprofit organization based in the United States.

The announcement was made by the state’s Deputy Governor, Lawal Faruk Jobe, during a briefing on the achievements in the health sector.

Jobe explained that the donation was initiated and pursued by Governor Dikko Umar Radda to address the challenges facing the state’s health sector.

He revealed that the state government had spent N623.3 million for the shipping and clearance of the equipment to Katsina.

The Deputy Governor emphasized that the state government remains committed to strengthening synergy and fostering effective collaboration with development partners to address sectoral challenges and deliver better services to the people.

In its ongoing efforts to improve health services, the government has allocated N13.4 billion to upgrade 146 primary health centers.

Additionally, the government has recruited 254 health personnel, including doctors, nurses, and midwives.

Jobe also highlighted that the government is providing full scholarships for 41 students to study Medicine (MBBS) in Cairo, at a cost of N2.4 billion.

Furthermore, the entry point for medical doctors has been increased, and residency training has been enhanced as a morale booster to improve the effectiveness of health care service delivery.
