The Katsina State Government has spent N120 billion on the education sector from May 2023 to date, according to the Deputy Governor, Faruk Lawal Jobe.

Speaking to newsmen, Jobe stated that the funds were used for infrastructure development, provision of learning and teaching materials, and teacher training across primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions.

Investments in Basic Education:

  • Jobe highlighted that N9.1 billion was allocated for construction of 160 classrooms, 81 toilets, and 20 staff quarters.
  • Rehabilitation of 258 classrooms.
  • Provision of 612 teachers’ furniture sets and 14,602 two-seater desks for pupils.

Under the Transforming Education System initiative, N5.6 billion was spent on the construction and rehabilitation of 159 primary schools.

  • Science and Technical Education
  • The government allocated N6.8 billion for:
  • Construction of new schools.
  • Provision of science and technical education materials.
  • Feeding of boarding students.
  • AGILE Program and University Infrastructure

Jobe further revealed that N13.6 billion was spent under the AGILE program for the construction of 75 schools across the state.

Additionally, the government invested in higher education infrastructure, including:

N314.6 million to restore the electricity supply at Umaru Musa Yar’adua University. N98.2 million for the installation of solar security lights at the university.Jobe emphasized that the government’s commitment to education remains a top priority, aiming to enhance learning conditions and provide better opportunities for students across the state.
