Katsina State Government has concluded plans to invest over N30 billion to enhance agricultural activities in the state.
The state Governor, Mallam Ɗikko Umar Radda, revealed this while speaking with newsmen shortly after returning from one month vacation.
Radda said part of the amount will be utilised for the setting of agricultural mechanised centres in each local government area.
He said the centre will train farmers on modern agricultural techniques and supply them with agricultural facilities.
“Under the arrangement, the centre will provide formers with modern tractors, combine harvesters, improve seeds and other needed facilities,” he said.
The Governor further explained that the government will make lrrigatioñ the farming activities a yearly event with the provision of solar boreholes and water pumping machines.
On the current economic hardship, Radda called for patience and understanding from the people of the state, assuring that the government is working to introduce new measures to alleviate the suffering of people:
“We are aware of the hardship people are facing; we are working to come up with various measures to minimise the problem,” he stated.
He further assured the people of the state that the state government is working to recruit additional members of the Community Watch Corps and deploy them to some local government areas that facing serious security challenges.
Radda commended the people of the state for their support and called for continued prayer toward solving problems of insecurity bedevilling the state.
He said he returned with full commitment and zeal to serve people.
