Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, has approved the creation of a new district comprising eight Village Areas in Dandi Local Government Area and the creation of a new village headship in Augie Local Government Area.
The approval was contained in a statement signed by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Garba Umar Dutsinmari, and issued to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi on Wednesday.
According to the Commissioner, the newly created district is Buma District, which was carved out of Dolekaina District in Dandi LGA, with Alhaji Salisu Hakimi appointed as its District Head.
The new Buma District comprises eight Village Areas: Tunga Rafi, Gamana, Tudunsan, Gillare, Bump Town, Goraro, Bukki and Alfarma Kwara.
The Governor also approved the creation of a new village headship in Augie LGA, with Nasiru Umar Maizabo appointed as the Village Head of Marafan Garin Haruna in Tiggi District.
The Commissioner said the appointments were made in accordance with the Kebbi State Local Government Law, 2008, particularly Section 10, Subsections (A) and (B), which confer powers relating to the creation of districts and appointment of district heads.
He urged the newly appointed traditional office holders to be disciplined, honest, transparent and dedicated in the discharge of their responsibilities.
“Your appointments were made based on your past records. Be rest assured of the Governor’s and the Ministry’s support and cooperation,” he said.
