Residents of Kiru Local Government Area in Kano State have appealed to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to urgently reconstruct the major road leading into Kiru town, describing its deplorable condition as a serious threat to lives and economic activities.

The appeal was contained in a statement issued by a community leader, Alhaji Shehu Danbala Kiru, and made available to journalists.

According to the statement, the community urged Governor Yusuf to give immediate attention to the road, which has deteriorated over the years.

“We respectfully appeal to the Executive Governor of Kano State, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, to urgently intervene and reconstruct the Kiru road. Its current condition requires immediate attention,” the statement said.

The community also called on the Senator representing Kano South, the member representing Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, the member representing Kiru Constituency in the Kano State House of Assembly, the Chairman of Kiru Local Government, and other relevant stakeholders to support efforts aimed at rehabilitating the road.

The residents noted that the road has become increasingly dangerous, exposing motorists, commuters and other road users to frequent accidents and unnecessary hardship.

“The main road leading into Kiru town has become a major source of concern. Its poor condition continues to deteriorate, putting the lives of residents and travellers at risk every day,” the statement added.

The community stressed that drivers, traders, farmers, students, patients and other road users now face severe difficulties due to the road’s condition.

According to the residents, the road serves thousands of people engaged in commerce, agriculture, education and healthcare, warning that further delay in its reconstruction would continue to endanger lives and slow economic growth in the area.

Alhaji Danbala reiterated the community’s appeal, urging political leaders to respond with compassion.

“We humbly appeal to our leaders to consider this request with empathy and commitment to the welfare of the people. A government that truly cares for its citizens should not ignore such an important road,” he said.

The community maintained that rehabilitating the road would improve transportation, save lives and property, promote trade, and accelerate development across Kiru and neighbouring communities.

Expressing optimism, the residents said they remained hopeful that their appeal would receive prompt attention from the relevant authorities.

They also prayed for wisdom and strength for leaders to serve the people with justice and fairness, while expressing hope that the appeal would lead to a swift and lasting solution.
