From Ahmed Muhammed Danasabe, Lokoja

The Kogi State Government has expressed commitment to roll out more impactful health initiatives to improve the health of the citizenry.

Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo stated this at the Government House, Lokoja, on Friday while flagging off the distribution of Two (2) Hilux Vans and Forty-two (42) motorcycles for the HIV/AIDS – TB Elimination Programme in the State.

Represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Salami Ozigi, Governor Ododo disclosed that deliberate health policies and programmes were being put in place to improve the health indices.

Governor Ododo further applauded the Global Fund, implementing partners and the federal government for their support.

Kogi State Commissioner for Health, Dr Abdulazeez Adams, said HIV/AIDS and TB have continued to ravage hapless communities, hence the need for proper surveillance.

Dr Adams, however, decried poor documentation as challenges hindering the success of the campaigns.

Earlier in his remark, Dr Komolafe Rotimi, who spoke on behalf of Kogi State Director of Public Health, pointed out that monitoring had ensured that over eight thousand cases of TB had been treated in the last year.
