…Highlights some achievements

The Honourable Commissioner of Health, Dr. Abubakar Labarin Yusuf has inspected some of the renovated hospitals which were abandoned and sold but retrieved by the present administration of Abba Kabir Yusuf due to its passion on how to save life of the Kano state citizens.
Some of the dilapidated and abandoned hospitals renovated by this present administration encompassed Nuhu Bamalli Maternity Hospital; Accident and Emergency, Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital and Hasiya Bayero Pediatric Hospital that was sold by the previous administration to a selfish individual in the state.
During his visit to Nuhu Bamalli Maternity Hospital, the Honourable Commissioner was really fascinated by its present condition unlike how it was look before as ramshackle.
In a bit of surprise, he said, “Nuhu Bamalli Maternity Hospital has completely changed. It looks decent and well renovated. This is a maternity hospital for women and when we came on board, that was last year, nothing is working in the hospital as it has been abandoned.
“You can even witness the dilapidated equipment for operations and other activities which were not only damage but old fashion and destroyed.
“Alhamdullah, in his will to see that he fulfills all his campaign promises, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has permitted us to completely renovated the hospital and equip it with all the necessary facilities.
“So everything is now ready and we will soon announce the date for commissioning the hospital.”
The commissioner has also stated that maternity delivery is free in the state as every woman would receive a free delivery pack that contains sanitary pads and other items related to delivery. “So no many woman will be asked to buy something during a delivery,” he highlighted.
Similarly, the commissioner has also supervised Accident and Emergency department at Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital which was well renovated with all necessary facilities including fans and air conditioners.
However, he (the commissioner) headed to Hasiya Bayero Pediatric Hospital which was sold during the previous administration but retrieved by the present administration of Abba Kabir Yusuf.
“Ladies and gentlemen, you have seen what Kano State Government has done in the health section. We have done such kind of work to more than 62 hospitals in the state. Now, our hospitals are reviving to their normal conditions after their negligence of the previous administration.
Recall that, since the inception of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, the Kano State Ministry of Health, under the able leadership of Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf has been working tirelessly to change the present conditions of the state hospitals and its workers from what it was inherited from the selfish previous administration.
Some of the achievements of Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf as Honourable Commissioner of Health encompassed the training of healthcare manpower in order to repositioning the Ministry to provide more qualitative healthcare delivery and providing and maintaining of secondary health facilities and training institutions;
The provision of policy guidelines and strategic support to local governments and the private sector to establish a health system (i.e. Primary Healthcare) oriented for the state and coordinate efforts of Government to provide a uniform state wide health system.
To collaborate with Local Governments and Private sectors to undertake the overall responsibility for monitoring and evaluation of the implementation of the Health Strategic Plans.
To collaborate with Development Partners and NGOs in health to support the efforts of Governments at all levels of healthcare delivery and provide policy guidelines and strategic support to State, Local Governments and the private sector to establish a health system (i.e Primary Healthcare) oriented for the State.
Coordinating efforts of Government to provide a uniform State wide health system and collaborating with Local Government, private sector and International Donor Organizations to undertake the overall responsibility of monitoring and evaluating the implementation of Health Strategy.
Supervising the Hospitals Management Board (HMB), for the effective implementation of secondary healthcare services and supervise the Kano State Drugs and Medical Consumables Supply Agency (DMCSA) so as to satisfy the drugs requirements of the State teaming populace through adequate and sustainable supplies of essential drugs at affordable prices and the establishment of Drugs Revolving Fund.
This function is complemented by small scale manufacturing of some essential drugs.
Supervising the State Primary Health Care Management Board (SPHCMB) for effective implementation of primary health care services in the state as well as supervising the State Agency for the Control of AIDS (SACA) for effective coordination and implementation of HIV/AIDS programme/Activities.
Supervising the state KHETFUND, PHIMA, KSCHMA and KNCDC with various responsibilities for effective health care delivery services in the state among others.
